Design Impact frequently tackles deeply complex social issues, from healthcare access with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to community development with IFF. Design Impact’s internal research and verbal outlines were rich with data but needed to be translated into a visual language that was accessible and actionable for diverse audiences, including nonprofit leaders, community members, and key stakeholders. The core challenge was to simplify complex information without losing its substance, creating a clear and digestible path for understanding and collaboration for the underserved.
Co-design is an approach to problem-solving that strives to actively and equally involve all impacted communities in the design process. This collaborative design process ensures our results reflect what impacted groups want and need. The materials we create help define and facilitate this work.
Context Aware Workshop Materials and a Centralized Digital Hub
Era developed a unified visual style guide that maintained a consistent brand presence for Design Impact. This approach fostered a shared ownership and collaboration of a full suite of materials—from facilitator guides to participant workbooks and handouts—specifically tailored to the use case. Whether for an in-person workshop or a remote co-design session over Zoom, each piece was designed to be intuitive and effective, ensuring a smooth and productive user experience for all participants.
